Terri Martin
President

Terri Martin is a professional biologist (ret.) that started his career monitoring
the Black Brant migration, field checking conservation covenants, and
inventorying Bald Eagle nest trees. Recently he retired from his position as
Environmental Specialist at the City of Campbell River where he worked for
17 years developing environmental policies and bylaws, overseeing various
contracts and reviewing development applications. In addition to his role
with Coastal ISC, Terri is dedicated to addressing ecological overshoot
through limits to growth in his position on the board of directors of the
Qualicum Institute Society.
Wylie Thomas
Vice-President
Conservation, Stewardship and Non-Governmental Organizations
Wylie Thomas is a restoration practitioner and conservation biologist based in Victoria, BC. He brings a conservation perspective to the management of invasive species, which are the second biggest threat to biodiversity after habitat loss.
Wylie has a Diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems from the University of Victoria. He also has a B.Sc. in Biology from McGill, and a Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University. Wylie has been an active volunteer in invasives removal projects around the Victoria region since relocating from Toronto in 2008.
Craig Elder

Craig Elder is a retired Certified Management Accountant, previously working for BC Ferries in Finance and Strategic Planning and at the Islands Trust as Treasurer and Director of Administration. He has also served as volunteer treasurer for non-profit and charitable organizations.
Since 2012 Craig has volunteered extensively in the restoration of natural areas in Saanich, acting as Lead
Steward at Gorge Park and Swan Creek Park, and at Cowichan River Provincial Park.
Barrie Agar

Agriculture and Horticulture
Barrie Agar started her horticultural career in Ireland training in Commercial Horticulture. Upon returning to Canada she worked in various specialty nurseries, taught in the horticultural program at VIU, and was Head Gardener at Royal Roads University (now retired). There she balanced managing a garden at the interface of 450 acres of Coastal Douglas Fir forest where the effects of invasive species was very evident.
Carrie Reid
Director
First Nations
xwantumaat is the name that ties me to the land. Carrie Reid has several degrees that have nothing to do with science. And she has a lifetime of living off the land. Her passion for berry picking is what led her to invasive species, being frustrated at berry patches disappearing under the weight of broom and Himalayan blackberry. Her passion is grassroots plain-language education around Invasives. And a desire to build a land army that will rescue indigenous plant species.
Raj Prasad

Qualified Environment Professionals, Academia and Research
Several papers on the Ecology, Biology and Management of Scotch Broom, Gorse, English Ivy, Daphne, Hawkweeds, Blackberry, etc were published. Regular meetings and annual conferences were held and Proceedings were published at the Forest Centre attracting municipal, city park, provincial, federal and environmental workers. Then extra grants/ funds were donated or collected by the CISP to run its own activities by the hired staff.
Chelsey Toth

Natural Resources
Chelsey Toth works in the natural resource sector, providing management expertise in silviculture, sustainability, and environmental stewardship in Coastal Forestry. As an Area Forester for Mosaic Forest Management, she is responsible for managing invasive and noxious weed data collection, mapping, treatment and monitoring. She plans and implements Integrated Pest Management (IMP) programs on southern Vancouver Island.

Mike Collyer is a Geomatics Coordinator with Parks Canada.
Jon Osborne
Director

Jon Osborne is a restoration practitioner and biologist based in Victoria BC, working primarily in Coastal Douglas Fir and Garry Oak and associated ecosystems around Southern Vancouver Island. While his work centres around mitigating the negative impacts that humans have on a variety of different species, most of his activities focus on the recovery of populations of rare and endangered plants through the removal of alien invasive species, where he manages federally funded programs to protect species at risk of extinction. He is passionate about fostering environmental stewardship through invasive species removal and restoration opportunities, which not only heal ecosystems and protect biodiversity, but also connect people to nature, each other, and their communities. He has a BSc in Biology from the University of Victoria.

Tamara Dinter is a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) with a dual MSc. in Agriculture and Environmental Science. Currently the General Manager of her family nursery business, Dinter Nursery in Duncan, she is passionate about supporting strategies to prevent the spread of invasive species through the horticulture industry.
Alex Walton

Municipalities
Alex Walton (BNRS, PAg, RAPR, ISA Urban Forest Professional) is the Environmental
Specialist of Natural Resources for the City of Campbell River. His career has taken him
across BC; working for different municipalities, regional districts as well as provincial
and federal governments. His environmental career started with getting a degree in
Natural Resource Science at TRU since then it has evolved into an assortment of roles
in wildfire, vegetation management, urban forestry, and restoration work.
